Molting: The horseshoe crab molts several times during its first year and may reach a width of about 1/2". After its third or fourth year it sheds its skin annually, sometime during July or August. Water quality: Horseshoe Crabs are relatively easy to care for in aquarium conditions. Horseshoe Crabs prefer to be on a sand bed on the bottom. Horseshoe Crab juveniles do not seem to be especially sensitive to water quality conditions, so if things are going well, you probably won’t need to mess with water changes for a few months to a half-year.
