Description

80 Tiny Baby Horseshoe Crabs Captive Raised (Linulus polyphemus) FREE SHIPPING. PREORDER

They are newly hatched 1 week old Horseshoe Crabs (Linulus polyphemus) Captive Raised

Horseshoe crabs are "living fossils," with a more than 200 million year evolutionary history. these horseshoe shaped arthropods are green in color when fully grown brown in color and totally harmless. They migrate to shallow water to mate Horseshoe crabs are benthic. When they swim their bodies are upside down.

They are great for reef aquariums and cleaning sand beds, refugia, and sumps and keeping your tank clean. They like to eat the crap and detritus stuck in the substrate. In the process they turn your substrate over helping to keep it clean and helping to lower phosphates. They live for many years. They are most closely related to trilobytes that existed 544 million years ago.

Molting: The horseshoe crab molts several times during its first year and may reach a width of about 1/2". After its third or fourth year it sheds its skin annually, sometime during July or August. As crabs molt and grow, increase food amounts accordingly. During this time they may disappear for periods of time into the sand, making it seem like there’s been a die-off.

Water quality: Horseshoe Crabs are relatively easy to care for in aquarium conditions. Horseshoe Crabs prefer to be on a sand bed on the bottom. Horseshoe Crab juveniles do not seem to be especially sensitive to water quality conditions, so if things are going well, you probably won’t need to mess with water changes for a few months to a half-year.

They are great for Schools, Teaching, Science projects, and Tanks to clean the sand, uneaten food, detritus, decaying organics, and fish waste. They are for saltwater aquariums. GUARANTEE LIVE ARRIVAL!!!
